Our next General Meeting is next Wednesday, March 19th. This
will be a
"mega-networking" luncheon. Location is the Community Center,
cost is $12
per person. There is limited seating -- Reservations are
ABSOLUTELY
required. Please, do not assume that I know you are coming. Call
or email me to confirm.
This will be a format similar to 'speed dating' where each
person will rotate to other tables throughout the luncheon. I only have room
for 49 attendees. Every person attending will receive a rotation
schedule.
A couple of rules and suggestions: * You will be presenting a 1 minute commercial about your
business at each table -- Practice!! Come prepared, a minute goes by
quickly. There will be a time keeper at each table. * Bring about 50 of your business cards, or hand-outs (if
appropriate) to give to other attendees. * Only one representative per company or organization will be
allowed. * Reservations must be made and confirmed in advance. * We will serve lunch first - at 11:45 a.m. I suggest you arrive
at 11:30 if possible.

Region of National City Bank, and his topic is "What You Should Expect
From Your Bank and What Your Bank Should Expect From You". Cost is $12,
11:30 a.m. at the Community Center.
Chamber member Pastor Ken Bulgrin wants me to share that the
First Apostolic Church of Tallmadge will hold an all you can eat Pancake and
Buckwheat pancake breakfast on Saturday, February 23rd from 8:00-11:00
a.m.. Cost is $5. The Church is located at 199 South Avenue.

This Friday, February 15th is our Reverse Raffle/Silent
Auction being held at Guy's Party Center beginning at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are still
available through the Chamber office.
Our General Meeting for February will be Wednesday, February

New sponsorship opportunity for 2008. Luncheon Sponsorships give
you and your employees the opportunity to showcase your business to the
members and guests who attend our luncheons. You will be recognized as the
title sponsor for the monthly luncheon in all communications including
the newsletter. You can create a display (table or your choice). You
will have exclusivity with respect to literature on the dining tables (one
exception would be information provided by the guest speaker). And you
will get to give a 5-minute presentation to the room prior to the keynote
speaker. Cost is $100. Contact the Chamber office to reserve.
Member-to-Member Discount Program expands. The Henry Bierce
Company is offering a 10% discount any tool rental or hardware purchase.
They have provided the Chamber office with Discount Cards which must be

Happy New Year everyone!
The Tallmadge Chamber of Commerce will kick
off its 2008 General Meeting schedule with Mayor Chris Grimm as our guest speaker.
Reservations are required for the Wednesday, January 16th meeting. Location is
the Community Center, 11:30 - 1:00 p.m., cost is $12.
Our Reverse Raffle & Silent Auction will be held on Friday,
February 15th at Guy's Party Center. We need donations of auction items. AirTran
has donated two round-trip air fare tickets but we welcome items,
large and small. Drop them off at the Chamber office during normal
business hours, Mon-Fri 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or call and we will arrange to
pick up your donation. Tickets are also on sale. Cost is $125 per couple, $80 per
single and extra tickets are $50 each. Contact the Chamber office or any Trustee
to purchase your ticket. Grand prize for the raffle is $2000
Membership Dues invoices were mailed in December. Have you paid
yours? Deadline is January 31st. Please do not let your membership
lapse. We appreciate your support of the Chamber.

Reverse Raffle & Silent Auction. Tickets are now on
sale. The event will have a Western theme...shine up your boots,
break out your cowboy hates & kerchiefs, and denim is quite
appropriate! Friday, February 15th at Guy's Party Center in
Akron. The fun begins at 6:00 p.m. Cot is $125 per couple, $80
per single and extra raffle tickets are $50 each. Grand prize in
the raffle is $2,000. AirTran has donated 2 round-trip air fare
tickets, with a $1000 value, for our auction, A limited number
of raffle tickets will be sold, so don't delay...purchase yours

Next Wednesday, December 19th is our General Meeting.
Pastor Ken Bulgrin, First Apostolic Church of Tallmadge promises a fun, lively and
very entertaining Holiday program for us! Location is the Community
Center, 11:30 - 1:00 p.m. We will have a special menu for this luncheon. Cost
is $15.00 Reservations are required. I need to give my meal guarantee
Early Monday morning!! Please RSVP to Barb in the Chamber office. It will be
difficult to accept last minute walk-ins for this luncheon, so please make
your reservation early.
Sunday, Dec 16th Heather Knoll Nursing and Rehabilitation
Facility will hold a Holiday Craft Show & Bake Sale from 10:00 to 1:30 p.m. All
proceeds benefit the Resident Council. Heather Knoll is located at 1134
North Avenue, across from the old Triple Crown.
This is a hectic time of year. I want to encourage you to
support your Chamber Members' businesses as you shop, entertain, and dine
out. Our diverse membership of almost 200 represents a wide variety of
businesses and services. Take a moment to page through your Directory, or the
member listing on our website. Many of our members, both retail
establishments and others such as the Tallmadge Recreation Center are offering gift certificates for you to purchase as presents. Remember your
fellow Chamber members as you enjoy the holidays!

Our annual Santa at the Community Center will occur this
Sunday, December 2nd from 1:00-3:00 p.m. This free event is open to the public.
Lots of fun for children of all ages with crafts, entertainment, snacks and
of course Santa and Mrs. Claus. Spread the word!! You are encouraged to
bring a donation of canned goods, gently worn winter clothes, toys or
gift cards. The Chamber is also accepting these donations during normal
business hours: Mon-Fri 9:00 am to 1 pm.
Chamber member Lally Drug is offering hearing screenings with a
licensed audiologist Thursday, November 29th and Saturday, December 1st
from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is free, however you must call to reserve
a time. 330-633-3239. Lally Drug is located at 29 Erie Street.
The December General Meeting will be Wedneday, December 19th, at
the Community Center. We will have holiday entertainment for your
enjoyment. Cost is $15, and reservations are required! Contact the Chamber
office to make your reservation.

November's General Meeting is next Wednesday, the 21st. Pat
Sauner, our City's Economic Development Director will be our guest speaker.
Our newly elected Trustees will also be introduced at this meeting, as
well as our new Executive Director, Mary Cea. Reservations are required, so
please contact the Chamber office to make your reservation. Cost is $12, time
is 11:30, and location will be the Community Center. We are asking, if
possible, for you to bring a donation of a non-perishable food item, or gently
worn coats, hats, gloves or toys to this luncheon. Your Chamber is
collecting these items to assemble Holiday Baskets to brighten the holidays for
some deserving Tallmadge families.
Mark you calendar for Santa at the Community Center on Sunday,
December 2nd. From 1:00-3:00 p.m. (please note that I had the wrong time in
your Chamber newsletter). Santa & Mrs. Claus attracted over 200 children last
year, so bring your children, grandchildren or the neighbor's children to
enjoy the crafts, entertainment, snacks and a visit with Santa & Mrs.
Claus. This is a free event, open to the public.

Dear Chamber Member:
There are still a few seats available for our annual Awards
Dinner, but you need to act fast. On Saturday, November 10th we will honor Mike
& Patti Passarelli as our Citizens of the Year, and Bill Mosholder of
Mosholder Realty Inc., as our Business Person of the Year. The awards
dinner begins with a social hour at 6:00 p.m. at Tangier's Restaurant with
dinner at 7:00 p.m. The menu includes a double entree of beef tips and
pistachio and herb crusted chicken, hors d'oeuvres, side dishes, a complimentary
wine pour and desserts. Cost is $90 per couple, or $48 per single. Contact me
to make your reservation.
Your Chamber is holding a food drive during the month of
November. Bring your non-parishable items to our office or bring along with you
to our General Meeting, November 21st. We are putting together baskets
to present to Tallmadge families who are in need. Our hope is to enable
several families to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving. Please look through
your cabinets and cupboards....share with a local family.

Dear Chamber Member:
There are a couple of opportunities for you to get involved in
some fun activities. Both of them occur on Saturday, October 20th.
Your Chamber will have a display table, which it will share with the
Tallmadge Rotary at the Fall Family Festival at the Henry Bierce
Company. I had a lot of fun
last year, and can use your help again this year to help me pass out
activity books & candy to children, and community maps and other
items for the adults. Times are 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please let
me know if you can spare an hour or two to help out.
Our member Melissa Way, Home Savings Bank, also needs some Judges
for their costume contest and pumpkin decorating contest for the
Fall Fest which they will hold at their offices at 182 Tallmadge
Road (The Cascades at Brimfield in front of Walmart) on that same
day. Judges need to be available from 9:00 to Noon. Contact Melissa
Way at 330.673.8610 if you are able to help out.
Next Wednesday, October 3rd, Lally Health Mart, 23 Erie Road will
have their Flu Clinic from 10:00 to Noon. Cost is $30. This is a
first-come-first served event.
All Chamber members should have received their ballot for Trustee
nominations. If you have not already done so, please take a couple
of minutes to vote. Fax back to the Chamber office 330.633.5415, or
scan and email, or drop in the mail. Your vote is VERY important, as
the Trustees set policy, guidelines and expectations for your
Chamber. Please vote!
Reservations are being accepted for our upcoming Fall Awards
Banquet, where we will be honoring Bill Mosholder, Mosholder Realty,
Inc., as our Business Person of the Year; and Michael & Patti
Passarelli as our Citizens of the Year. Additionally, recognitions
will be given to new businesses; new members and well as
years-of-service awards. Tangiers Restaurant is the

Dear Chamber Member:
Activities are picking up again, now that fall is approaching.
Our first of two September Live After Five events is this Thursday,
September 13th, hosted by Mosholder Realty Inc. at Stonegate Reserve
from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Stonegate Reserve is a community of all
free-standing custom homes with condo conveniences. The model where
the Live After Five is being held is an impressive, beautiful
representation of the quality of
these homes. Located at 1146 Cobblestone Drive, take Southeast
Avenue past I-76 and turn right on Stonegate Trail. Refreshments
will be served.
The Chamber's General Meeting is happy to have Ray Tatko, President
of Summit Racing Equipment, as our guest speaker on Wednesday,
September 19th. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. here at the
Community Center. We will also be introducing nominees for Trustee
positions for the 2008-09 term of office. The election will be held
in October, so this is your first chance to meet the candidates. You
will be electing six new Trustees from the field of eleven who are
running. Reservations for the luncheon are required and can be made
through the Chamber office. Cost is $12 per person.
Our second Live After Five for the month is being hosted by Scott &
Jason Zieman at their new Little Caesars Pizza facility on the
Circle. Monday, September 24th from 4:30 to 7:30, this event will be
preceeded by a ribbon cutting ceremony. Help us welcome this new
business to Tallmadge. Gee...I wonder what will be on the menu??
Sample their pizza and other menu items! Refreshments are sponsored
by Pepsi.

Events at the Summit Country Fairgrounds this weekend will cap
off the City's Bicentennial festivities. Your Chamber will be
selling soft drinks at the fairgrounds beginning at 5:00 p.m. on
Sunday. Larry Roth is heading this up, and could use a few
volunteers beginning at 5:00 and going until the fireworks start.
If you are able to help out for even an hour or so, please let me
know. Volunteers should meet Larry at the food tables area of the
fairgrounds at 5:00 on Sunday. If you wish to contact Larry Roth

There are several items of which I need to make you aware:
1. Notice of Communication Exclusion. You should have received your
2007 Membership Director via the mail recently. As you may be aware,
our membership listing also appears on our chamber website
www.tallmadge-chamber.com
Other members and the general public have access to this
information. If you wish information to be excluded (from the
website listing, or future Membership Directories) please notify the
Chamber office. I can have information taken off of our website
member listing, if you let me know specifically what you want
excluded: Telephone number, Email address, Mailing address. Call or
email me if you want anything excluded.
2. Fall Banquet. Work has begun on our Fall Banquet, an awards
program where in addition to Business Person and Citizen of the Year
awards, we also recognize local businesses for milestones in number
of years in business...as well as new businesses within the past
year. Number of years in business awards begin with 10 years and
multiples of 5 years after that, ie., 10, 15, 20, etc. If your
company should be recognized for a milestone or as a new business,
contact me with the information.
3. Chamber ByLaws. Copies of the Chamber's ByLaws are available from
the Chamber office. If you are interested in receiving a copy, call
or email me and I will gladly send it to you either via email or
regular post.
4. General Meeting Reminder. Next Wednesday, August 15th is our next
General Meeting. Reservations are required, so call or email me with

Dear Chamber Member:
Our August General Meeting will be Wednesday,
August 15th and feature Kathryn Kilpatrick, President of Memory
Fitness Matters & Communication Connection as our guest speaker. Her
topic "Maximizing Your Memory in the Workplace" is certain to
contain tips and techniques valuable to each of us. Reservations are
required; cost $12 per person. The General Meeting starts at 11:30
a.m. at the Community Center.
Chamber Member Tom Boggs, Quantum Jewelry, wants you to be aware of
a fundraiser on Saturday, August 11th, to benefit Hands of Hope in
their efforts to distribute toys to thousands of children, each
Christmas season. See the attached flyer for more details.
Member-to-Member Discount Program update: Kristin Lally of Lally
Drug Mart is offering a 10% discount on all purchases (excluding
beer/wine) in their store located at 23 Erie Road. Just show your
Discount card to receive the discount effectively immediately and
running through the end of 2007.
Sadly, I must report that I was just informed that Chamber Member
Lew Orinsby's wife, Marion, has passed away. Funeral arrangements
are yet to be announced, and will appear in the local newspapers. I
had the pleasure of spending some time with Lew at this year's Expo
where he volunteered to help man our Chamber exhibit booth. It was
great fun listening to he and Jack Burgess reminisce about the
Chamber's history.
